So, what's everybody think about the beginning of volume four?
Personally, I'm confused as to why they made it so that not only the viewer, but also, like, every character, knows what's going on with the roundup, who's behind it, etc. And why are they making a cliffhanger out of Peter being sucked out of the plane? Like, we know that he could just fly away, after all.
I am concerned after the premiere, but I hope that they are going to go somewhere great here. The premise sure sounds good; they just need to be sure to stay consistent with the characters, mostly. That was the biggest problem, it seems, in volume three. _________________

A few thoughts:
-WFT is up with the 'cliffhanger' ending? Peter can FLY, after all
-How is Peter a paramedic now? Dude's a nurse, not a paramedic. WTF?
-Why is Peter sooooo dumb. How can he fall for the 'hug' trick AGAIN? He's really too dumb to have that power...
-I hope Hiro gets his power back soon. Powerless Hiro is the same as regular Hiro, only boring-er. This is the third volume in a row in which the writers clearly have no clue what to do with Hiro. In volume two they had the stupid idea to send him to ancient Japan. In a volume three they made him think he's ten years old. Now he has no power, so no use. They just clearly don't have any idea what to do with him. It's pathetic. In fact, they've done the same thing with Peter the last few seasons. Hopefully that's been cleared up now, at least.
-I'm afraid that this volume will be absolutely terrible, for one main reason: it's no longer a drama. Now it's much more of an action/adventure show.
-It really bothers me that they show a spark when Peter TOUCHES someone. First off, he never has had to make contact with someone to acquire their power. That was Papa Patrelli's deal, not Peter's. The writers seem to have forgotten that. And the spark that was shown seems to be there solely because they assume that the audience is made up of total morons, who need to be shown that he's acquiring power. I mean, wtf? I just don't get that at all.
-How can HRG be working with Nathan and his minions? I can't believe for a second that he would be willing to do this. However, since the TRUE story of the Heroes characters ended with Volume 2, I don't suppose it matters.
-I love the premise, but I hated the execution in the premiere.
-I loved what we saw from Sylar. I hope to see much more of him being awesome and scary in volume 4. And I really hope that the writers don't screw up his character again this season.
There's probably a lot more to say, but that's all I can think of right now. _________________

Guys, Peter can't fly. He only said that so Nathan wouldn't find out about his real power, which now looks like is mimicking our powers but only after physical contact with the person it comes from. And he can only have one at a time - notice when he touched Mohinder he absorbed super-strength, but when he touched Tracy, he got the ice power. Hence flying when he was with Nathan, but I don't think he can do it anymore. Which is why falling out the plane is not good.
Also NFA, I'm pretty sure since Peter was already qualified as a nurse, it wouldn't take much to qualify as a paramedic. He obviously wanted to do something that would enable him to help people and save lives the ordinary way, since he doesn't have his powers anymore.
I'm so peeved about HRG, I don't know if I believe he's evil, because it just seems crazy, but he might be deep under cover instead. Everything he's ever done has been to protect his family so this probably has something to do with that.
I liked that the pilot for Volume 4 brought back the main characters and established a villain, they're keeping it simple so far and hopefully it'll stay that way. _________________ "Your father was captain of a Starship for 12 minutes. He saved 800 lives - I dare you to do better."

But at the end of volume three, he flew Nathan out of the burning Pinehurst, so he can fly. And really now, why does he have to touch people to get powers? Before, that was never the case. Are they trying to change something established for easier storytelling again? _________________

Oh, tonight's episode was so much better than last week's, and more importantly, gives much promise for the future. They look like they're going somewhere really good, it seems, and I can't wait to see where it goes. Having said that, this flabotanum (sp?) with Peter having one power at a time is still silly and reeks of the desperate convenience on the part of the writers. _________________

I second the above. I hated that they killed Daphne, but they really needed a 'toll' (as my brother put it when we were discussing he episode earlier tonight) from this operation. Now the Heroes (namely Parkman, obviously) really have a great reason to fight these people. Also, I really love the fact that the Heroes are totally banded together. I love the potential that the show has right now, and desperately hope that it pays off.
Another thing I really liked is the creepiness of NOT-Nikki's capture. We have no idea what Nathan and his minion bastards are planning on doing to her, but it can't be good. The fact that we don't know (and that this could happen to any of the Heroes) is really pretty scary. Also, I was very interested in the identity of the person who sent that text message to Clare. I first assumed that it was Peter, but then it occurred to me that he had just said not to use phones, so it can't be him, right? It can't be HRG, because he certainly doesn't want her to 'fight', so who was it? I'm interested (although if it turns out to be someone stupid I'll be both upset and unsurprised...)
A few concerning things (since it's not possible to be TOO optimistic when it comes to Heroes...):
-I'm uncertain over where they're going with Sylar and his new apprentice (me and TwoToGo had a lot of fun making Star Wars related jokes about this...) This new character holds promise, but I just don't see how it makes sense to have Sylar babysit an annoying teenager. Hopefully this will go somewhere good.
-I think it was important to the story and will lead to goodness, but I hate that they killed Daphne. The women on this show are just not safe...
-I really don't like the fact that they changed Peter's power. It's not a big deal story-wise, but the writers' continued lack of respect for the past is annoying.
Oh, and my favorite thing in the episode was in a line from HRG, when he told Clare that 'this initiative goes further than you think', or something to that effect. Me and TwoToGo were like, 'I KNEW this organization was The Initiative...'. :) _________________

I felt that way (and, really, still do), but I did think that Chapter 2 was a big improvement. Of course, if Daphne is brought back/forgotten, they continue to erode the characters, change the show's history on a whim again, etc. I'll be extremely disappointed, but not too surprised.

I'm finally watching S3 (chapter 3 and 4), and I like it. I can't see any of the complaints you people have, to be honest. Most of the complaints seem to be based on prejudice (I don't like it anymore, so I search for flaws, even if they're imaginary), rather than 'real' errors of the writers. Heroes has always been written as a series, lots of events and actions are explained only much later. Basing 'I don't understand what X does, so it sucks' is kind of pointless until you've watched the whole chapter, IMO.

Because his powers were stolen by Arthur, and he got them back only partially.
About HRG: It's always been obvious he does things with a hidden agenda. Since we don't know that agenda, his actions may seem weird, but they're always explained later.
I hated Daphne dying, but her death scene was well-written, I thought (Dammit, almost all the cool female characters have died: Caitlin, Elle, Daphne).
About Hiro: The aim of the writers is clearly to show that you don't need to have powers to be a hero.
