Pointless, Senseless Bragging

I wanted to start a thread for pointless, senseless bragging about anything really.
I just won a No Limit Hold 'em Tournament ($1 buy in) on PokerStars.com that netted me $154.73, so I felt like starting it now. That $150 may not sound like a lot to some people (I don't know those people, but I've heard of them), but it's certainly a lot to me, so I'm very happy.

By the way, I played it for over five hours and was fortunate to have this site to look at while I played, which helped keep me focused and awake.

Anyway, if anyone has any pointless, senseless bragging to do, here's a good spot for it.
Wynter

Good topic NFA! I thought I didn't have any pointless bragging, but turns out I do. I went to the uni Freshers' Fair yesterday and got craploads of free coupons, tickets, sweets, discount vouchers etc for different pubs, clubs, shops and the like. So haha! Even though I don't drink but I get plenty I can use, yeee.
MysteryEND

My pointless, senseless bragging.....
I found 20 cents on my floor yesterday.....
Ant4buffy

I've done the same Wynter - i got lots of BOGOF vouchers for Mcdonalds and Pizza Hut, Bowling and cinemea. Ah! I love not being a student but being able to leech of from them!
MagicBone

I totally aced my math exam! Mmm hmmm! And the one for English.

Im so excited... I finally converted my best friend to BtVS!!....We started season 2 months ago...but only got a few episodes in... and she gave up...So with the sucess of converting my twins friend...I decided to show episodes which she would like... So we watched Gone... because she is loves Six Packs...So she Loves Spike and his body...Then because she loves Music... I showed her OMWF...And she loved it!!....Then cos she is kinda goth..I showed her The Wish...She loves Willows Outfit!...and now she is hooked!!...

Tips for converting friends...
Try to show them episodes they would be interested in!
NotFadeAway

That's a great idea MysteryEND. I always try to start people with "Welcome to the Hellmouth", but that's probably not the most effective way to do it. I mean, even though it's great it just looks sort of lame and cheesy and that's going to make people think that the show's like that.
Wynter

My pointless brag for today...I bought Firefly: The Official Companion, Volume 1 today, yay! I'd been looking for it a while so I'm glad I finally got it, a-woo-hoo Very Happy
Sunnydalehigh

A few weeks ago I played in a Texas Hold 'Em tournament at a friend's house. It was my first time playing for $$ and I WON! It was only $25, but still...

Then last week I got a phone call from the local comedy club. Do any of you remember me talking about going to see Emo Philips, my favorite comedian, about 8 months ago? Well, when I went to the show I entered my name in a contest to win free tickets. I won 8 free tickets to a comedy show this weekend. Woo Hoo! I'm on a roll!
ildjarn

I was Dutch youth champion draughts (international checkers) a long time ago.
DarthRosenberg

I played Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. tonight, with one of the "challenging" parks. And after three years with perfect ratings (I had 997 which is only two points away from the "unreachable") my park ratings suddenly dropped... and I couldn't stop it. It went down for 433 when I had enough and quit the game... What the heck happened?!?!?!
And those stupid guest kept stayed on one little part of my park and they started to complain about the crowd ("It's too crowded here!") For god sake there was a lot of space and they were just simple goes around that four sq meter like the Hellmouth would be under it... when it gets all
focus-y or something. GRRR! Now I'm pissed.
That was my pointless brag for this night... thank you for let me sharing it! Smile
MagicBone

I am recently obsessed with DDR and got my first A rating today. Woot woot!

We raised $1400 for Breast Cancer Aweness at our benefit Saturday night and had a ball!!! Yay!

I pulled my room apart literally to find it..my room is such a mess now...

It fell behind my bed side table.....I wish you could ring them...like cell fones..it would be alot easier to find them that way....

My brother and I got to go with a couple of friends to an awesome concert tonight, which had both Big and Rich and Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was awesome, even if the crowd seemed to be made up of thousands of drunks, rednecks, and drunk rednecks. One thing that seemed neat to me was that my brother was, as he stated, certainly the only person there with a Buffy the Vampire Slayer shirt on, which was undoubtedly true.

Oh, and for another pointless, senseless brag, my brother finished fourth out of around 200 people in a stud high low poker tournament last night. Even though it was only worth about $15.50 it was still a great accomplishment, so I have to give some props to him for that.
MysteryEND

My best friend is finally addicted to BtVS!!.... we have been watching it all week.... We just started season 4 and are half way through The Freshman

LOL...When we are usually out shopping..I usually point out BtVS and Angel DVDs..and she usually rolls her eyes...But NO this time she was excited....We had a Marathon yesterday which ended at 6am today...She has even been using quotes...School Holidays are over tomorrow... So now we only get to watch one in the arvo...

Her favourite characters are Xander, Oz and Spike....
Im a bit worried..she was yelling at the TV when Xander and Willow kissed...I dont know how she is going to go with the whole Oz and Veruca thing...Then New Moon Rising.....

I don't know about "Wild at Heart" and Veruca, but she's bound to like "New Moon Rising"...I mean, who doesn't love Tara?

I know ....
Tara is one of my favourites!!...
Its just she loves Oz...So to see Willow choose Tara over Oz..
I dont know?!...

I will get her to join here after she has finished the series...

This isn't bragging or anything but thought I would share it with you.

It turns out my flu is actually a bronchial infection and I ended up in the hospital this morning on a nebulisor to help me breathe.

I have came away with an inhalor and 10 tablets that I have to take every day for the next few days, so if I am not on for a while, you will know why.

Really sorry to hear your unwell Mel. Hope you get better soon. I used to get bronchial problems when I was younger, they totally suck.

I wish you a speedy recovery. Make sure to watch lots of Buffy, its the best medicine!!
NotFadeAway

I hope you get better soon Mel and make a speedy recovery, both from your sickness and back to the Forum.
beagle

Ah Mel... I hate that you are sick. I can empathize with you though. I have asthma and have experienced the same. Good luck.
Sunnydalehigh

Yes, I can empathize as well. Asthma and allergies, pills and inhalers, been there, done that. Sucks. Rest up and watch lots of Buffy/Angel episodes, Mel. And Wynter, I hope you get better soon too.
MagicBone

Poor Mel. If you start seeing creepy German guys in hats with weird eyes walking by your door at night, let us know! We'll beat 'em up!

This isn't too much to brag about, but I wanted to pointlessly and senslessly brag that I won a 16 player HORSE tournament on the internet yesterday. I only won around $9, but I was happy anyway.
wicked_trouble_now

I was failing American Government on Monday, now I have B and I get to keep my cell phone and my iPod and my labtop.

Extra credit rocks.
Ebdim9th

There are some things I still suck at playing, but I've gotten to the point where I can even fool some professional musicians into thinking I actually know what I'm doing when I stick within the strengths of my abilities on the guitar. Which I play left-handed and aparently that impresses some people right off the bat. Only if I hide that man behind the curtain... *reen toon teen toon tee noo nee noo neeeeee--- Moowaaaaahhh!!!!* (- FZ)

That's what I keep telling my dad... but he won't buy it.
Mel

This is not bragging...one day I will have something to brag about...LOL.

I dont know if you have, but members in the UK have probably seen on the news that Farepak Hampers have gone bust and I was an Agent with them.

Me and my customers have been paying money to them all year and now we have lost it all.......its almost £600.

We wont be getting any of our orders......and we wont be getting a refund.

I have also got to be the one to break the news to my customers that they have lost their money aswell.

And the thing that pisses me off more is that I was on the phone to them just the other day making a payment and they took my money without any mention of anything.

I felt like crying last night.....not for me, but for that fact I feel so guilty about my customers losing their money.
Sunnydalehigh

Ouch, Mel! That sucks. I'm so sorry.

If it's any consolation, the people taking orders and money probably didn't know any more than you did at the time. You have nothing to feel quilty about. If anything, you should be angry. You can still file a claim against the company and get SOME of your money back. But it still really sucks.

Does this mean you need a new job, or was that just something you did on the side?
Mel

Its not my job, its just a thing I do for Christmas.....people order food hampers, decoration, toys and the like through me and then pay me every month and I pay the company.

Its like a savings thing for Christmas.
Sunnydalehigh

Oh boy. How sad. I hope your customers can salvage a Merry Christmas out of that mess. Good luck. Just remember that it's not your fault that some people don't know how to run a company.
cardboardy

oh Mel thats just bloody awful.
i dont know what to say... but sunnyD is right, people won't be blaming you, they will just be feeling bad too.
doesnt make it better, but you are clearly a good honest person who has done nothing wrong or unethical.
and i just also read on another thread that you've been really sick...
HELLO is there anything else the universe wants to throw at Mel?? cause now would be a really good time... NOT!!
xx
Mel

Thanks Cardboardy!

I just hope that my luck gets better from now on........LOL

To cheer myself up I have bought another 3 Buffy/Angel figures.

I got Darla from season 1 of Buffy, White Witch Willow from Chosen and Season 5 Spike.

I thought I'd engage in some pointless, senseless bragging since I just won a stud high low tournament on PokerStars.com. It was a freeroll tourney, so I didn't win any money (just an entry into another tournament with good cash prizes.) 3994 people entered the tournament, so I really felt great about winning it. This is only the second time that I've won a stud high low tournament with a big field, so I thought I'd brag pointlessly and senselessly about it. Anyway, I hope to win a good amount of money in the tournament tommorow (or whenever I wind up playing the money tourney.)
Ebdim9th

In the face of all that competition ... how very Braves of you...
wicked_trouble_now

(Once More, With Feeling!) Okay, so apparently if you don't live in my area you think it's really pretty hear, so the production crew or whatever of the 3rd Pirates of the Carribean movie was like "Let's film for a week a few miles away from where Samantha lives."

Then my crazy friends were like, "Let's go stalk Johnny and Orlando."

And of course I agreed.

We only saw them being escorted off the set and we saw the production tents, which was cool enough for me. I probably would of died if I had met one of the stars.

So, we are driving the backroads cause we see guys with walkie talkies driving around being cool, and were like: OMG! Production crew! So, we start following them, but then they kinda notice. So we pull over and act like were lost... the fact that we have a San Francisco map out might be part of it... (So the description of the pic says it was a farmer, but that's cause Molly is a loser.)

Production tents, so much cooler at night, but the security guard was yelling at us... lol

It was actually pretty cool, all the stars were staying at the next town over. Orlando went to In and Out Burger and Johnny walked around Pismo... no one cares about Kiara...
Wynter

Holy shit, I can't believe you were that close to them!!! You lucky thing. No one famous/fun ever comes here Sad

EDIT - Wait, that's a lie. Joss Whedon and the Serenity cast were at the film festival last year, and Kevin Smith (SILENT BOB!!) was there this year, and once WWE RAW superstars came over for a show in the city...and the MTV Europe Music Awards were here a couple years ago. Ok, so people do come here sometimes but the chances of spotting them are highly unlikely.
greengirl00

OK, First off, Wicked, you saw Jonny Depp and Orlando Bloom!
Second, Wynter, you were that close to Joss Whedon!

Cumbria's too in the middle of nowhere and rainy for anyone to bother coming here
Sunnydalehigh

Mel, I LOVE the Proclaimers! I have the Sunshine on Leith CD. Another fave song of mine is My Old Friend the Blues. It's the perfect song to listen to when you're feeling a bit melancholy. The only song everyone seems to know is I'm Gonna Be (500 miles), which is a shame because the rest of the album is great too. I like the song Cap in Hand a lot, too.
greengirl00

I saw the Proclaimers live once, at Solfest over the summer. They were quite good, but I didn't get to see as much of them as I would have liked cos my parents dragged me home. (It was about 2 in the morning on the last day of the festival)

I KNOW!!! But y'see, I didn't get into Firefly and Serenity til earlier this year so at the time, I had no idea. It's actually kind of gutting to think that they were all here and I could have seen them...URGH!!! One of my friends though, who's been a hardcore Whedonite since Buffy started, was walking down the Royal Mile and went past a pub...WHERE JOSS WHEDON WAS SITTING! She did a double-take and ran back to look into the window but she didn't meet him. Which is kinda sad, but hell even seeing him would have been enough for me.

I talked to this guy in a music store the other day named Wes Jeans. Guitar Player Magazine listed him in the top 5 hot new young gun type guitar players to be watching out for... He looks, talks kinda like a younger Gregg Allman. I also met his bass player and drummer there as well.

Election day is in a week here in the states and one item on our states ballot is an ammendment to ban gay marriage. Not that it is legal now or anything. Mainly something to make the biggots feel good about themselves and their "proper" relationships. Anyway, People have put up signs supporting the amendment, alongside the road and in their yards.
The other night my friends and I went around and pulled them all up. Free speach baby!

Lol! Go Beags! (and friends)

We had an amendment like that two years ago in Georgia, and it passed by a ton. Fortunately it was overturned by the state supreme court, but it was really embarrassing for our state. And yes, it is just a way for the bigots to feel good about themselves (no matter how many times they get divorced and remarry.)

Yes, that was horribly embarrassing for our state. First, we had to be embarrassed by the GA state flag that was 2/3 rebel flag (and was made the flag solely to protest Brown v. Board of Edu.), and then there was the gay marrage thing. I can only imagine what might come next.

By the way, if you are old enough, please go vote on Tuesday. I know that I sure will (I never miss a chance to vote, after all). If you aren't old enough (and even if you are), please encourage others to vote.
beagle

Well, I am sure it will pass by a ton. We are sister-states. But, anyway it was fun.
I think it really comes down to sex. These people are so embarrassed, ashamed, that they enjoy sex that they have to convince themselves some sorta ceremony or a certain type of sex is the only way to make it okay. Heck, we're taught that from the first time our parents catch us touching ourselves.
But I think things are changing in this arena. If you polled today's kids I'd think you'd find a much more open opinion on these subjects compared to, let's say, the baby boomers.
Ebdim9th

Our local network stations are an unending stream of political swill, er I mean ads, no I don't...
MagicBone

Mmm hmmm. The elections are coming up next week and Missouri's senate race is a big one, it could change whether or not Congress is Republican or Democrat (it's Claire McCaskill vs Jim Talent and God, they are just talking shit about each other, constantly) and we are also deciding on a bunch of other stuff, the biggest one is probably an amendment regarding stem cell research. We already have a ban on gay marriage (GRAGAMHGS!) because of the conservative majority, but lately, especially here, in Columbia (the town where I live -- it's a college town, home to the University of Missouri, and an arse-load of hippies and liberals) there are a lot more liberal Democrats, which gives me a happy. Unfortunately, I'm just nervous that there will be too much opposition.

Cross your fingers guys. They wanna raise minimum wage and create a cigarette tax (which I am also for) too. We can just hope ...

(While I was writing this, 3 Claire McCaskill/Jim Talent ads have come on.)

Thursday is Thanksgiving here in the U.S. and school is out here all next week. I can't wait, as I've been student-teaching all day at school and then going to work for up to four hours every day for about five weeks now. wicked_trouble_now

You get all next week *glares* I only get Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But I get to have lots of fun time with my family, my cousin and I are taking bets on the horror that will happen this year:

My guess? The carpet will catch on fire (cause something always catches on fire) and then later all the adults will be drunk as hell, my cousin Kels will eat rasberry something have a huge allergic reaction. I'll have to drive her to a hospital, except I'll have a panic attack due to actual cars driving around me (I've only driven in a parking lot) and then Tyler (my other cousin who's fourteen) will have to drive both of us. And then we'll all die cause he can't take directions.

Not that much actually, £28 from Play.com. It was cheaper on Amazon but they dispatch within 4-6 weeks, whereas Play send the thing within 24 hours. I didn't want to wait an uber-long time, which is why I opted to pay the extra couple quid and get it from Play Smile

My brother and I got upgraded to DSL today, so we no longer have to fool with the annoyingness of dial-up, so...yay.
Sunnydalehigh

Welcome to the 21st century you guys! You realize you won't ever be able to go back to dial-up after this, don't you? Let's hope you never have to.
TwoToGo-Grave

I am so glad to have DSL; I can tell a big difference and all, so I sure am glad about it. Our computer had been moving so slow, but in addition to installing the software and all for us, mine and my brother's best friend also cleaned up a lot of junk that was on our computer, so it is moving much faster than it otherwise would.

I don't have anything to brag about, but my brother should (not that he will). He's been flirting with this girl at work for a month or so, and finally got up the courage to ask her out (she said yes). I thought that it warranted some bragging.

Well, when I think about it, I could brag a little bit. In the past few days, I have entered 12 $5.00 buy in one-on-one poker tournaments, where you play until one player has all of his opponents chips (and the winner takes the other one's $5.00). I won 10 out of the 12, so that is a profit of $40. I know that it's not much, but I have been pretty happy with it, and it's been a lot of fun to play so many different types of players (and been good experience).
Wynter

Congratulations TwoToGo, making any kind of profit warrants bragging. And nice one NFA! Let us know how that turns out Wink

I survived Thanksgiving. It involved lots of coffee and leaving the house at one point (one of my cousins is named Samantha as well and it just gets so annoying that you stop answering.) That and my step mom's bother is named Randy, so every single time they said his name I thought of Tabula Rasa!

Nothing caught on fire, stuff got burned, but no fire. Go us!

Think Wesley in 'She', only with less control of the limbs.

Don't forget the clip of Wes prancing around in his underwear at the charity ball...

One more day and all college stress will go away.

I got a 69 out of 74 on my government midterm. That's a low A.

Yay.

Now time for finals :[

Good job. And it was in Social Studies, no less (which is what I'll be teaching, so yay).
I am sort of glad to have just finished my time at the middle school, as I didn't bomb it or anything. I will miss the kids there a bunch, though, so that part of finishing is bad. Sadly, though, I'll be sitting in the regular classroom again tomorrow (only one day of it, however).

So, the decision is made, the wheels are in motion and the emergency brake is out the window. I've made the decision to not go to a four year college next year. Yeah, shocking, considering this effects so much of my future. But, it just feels right. I thought if I chose this option I would be freaking out and completely unsure of my future- but I'm not. I feel fine with this and so is my dad. Which isn't the point, it's what I feel comfortable with.

So, the plan is to go to drop Algebra II like a hot potatoe at semester and go to a two year college in the Bay Area next year. It will be incrediably nice to be so close to family that I'm- well, close with. Being able to see my Aunt, Mor Mor and cousins more often will be wonderful, they'll be a BART train away.

Back to my college decision, I honestly don't feel like I'm ready for a four year college as of now. The whole thing just feels way too scary. Besides, I'm only seventeen! I should be a Junior. Razz
