Randa-TV-series-um

There may be a Fables TV show somewhere next year: http://www.newsarama.com/comics/120809-Willingham-Fables.html

In case you've never heard of Fables: it's a graphic novels series by Bill Willingham, about various story-figures (Snow white, Big bad wolf, Cinderella, Pinocchio, you get the idea) who have been chased out of the Fable homelands to our world by a mysterious force called 'The adversary' (I won't spoil things by telling who this is). I really like this series, at the moment it's my favourite long-running comic series (yes, I prefer this over Buffy comics).

Cool! I'll have to look into that when it comes out.
Wynter

That sounds interesting! Thanks for the heads-up ild, I'll keep a look out.

I just watched the first episode of the American remake of Life On Mars. Did anyone watch the original one? I've been told it was really good. The American one seems pretty good, and I like the old music.

OK, we made it. One work week until DOLLHOUSE!!!  I am SO excited. I have even recruited a few friends to watch with me. My buddy, C, seems to be actually interested!!!!
This brings me to a question for all. Assuming that you have seen the trailers on FOX this weekend, they even showed them during the stockcar race Sat. night!
There is a big "From the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer" audible and text at one point. At first I relished in a rush of adrenaline but then began to worry. Do you think this might turn a lot of people off???  One of my friends seemed interested as I explained the premise and fan boyed out to the trailer but he immediately walked away as soon as they evoked Buffy's name.
Not sure his loss of interest was based on his knowledge of my obsession or not.

That's a great question, beagle.  Personally, I don't know that it'll hurt, but I see how it could.  However, it is a show that everybody's heard of, at least, so that's something to say that people will recognize, at least.

Yay Dexter started back last night as well as GNW.
Atlast the non rating season is over. Hurry up Bones.

My girlfriend (before I showed her the greatness of Joss) was a fan of Dark Angel. The last few days she watched the second season of it alone, when I was working. Yesterday I joined her and we finished it. It was such a disappointment for both of us. I'm clear on that, that they didn't know that the series won't come back, so they set up a nice plot for the third season, but it was still too open ended, no closure for any of the lines. Also, the whole series is just so shallow, no real characters what so ever. I've only seen the pilot before this last three episodes, so I'm not the best person to critizes, but my girlfriend, who was a huge fan... well, now she thinks that the whole second season was pathetic. Espcially compared to Buffy.
After that we finished the third season of Buffy and it was such a relief to see, that people (to be more specific: Joss) can actually write characters and intense scenes and actors can actually play emotions (not like poor Jessica Alba, who has like two faces, the sad/emotionfulled one and the angry/fighting one.
Sad...

Has anyone here ever seen My So-Called Life? In particular the Halloween episode. It's remarkably similar to I Only Have Eyes For You.

Space: Above and Beyond was a show that ended after only one season of twenty-two episodes, and with a huge cliff-hanger too... they tried to wrap it up by making it look like the whole team/squadron  was very likely wiped out  except for two, but that didnt help the rest of the unresolved cliff-hanger any, which was obviously meant to set up an entire second season. The pilot episode was assisted by Village Roadshow, which later produced Independence Day. You can definitely see the influences. Co-creator/writer James Wong even has a 'cameo' appearance at the beginning of ID4.... (As he also worked on the X-Files, in the movie Fight the Future, the bathroom in the club is broken so Fox Mulder has to go in the alleyway in the back, and when he looks up at the wall, there's a faded or torn Independence Day poster there at eye-level....)

I got a mail that the The guild Season 2 DVD-box was released. Hopefully I'll have this in a week or so!

Kevin Pollack has an online talk show and he just interviewed, this past week, Felicia Day for close to 90 minutes. Then he gets her Larry King impression. Which includes one very inappropriate peice of information about oneself that noone should want to know, and then going to a 'caller' in the oddest-named town you can think of...

Is there any link to listen to it?

I think that should be it...

Thanks a lot for posting that.  It was just awesome.
Ebdim9th

Oh yeah, I thought it was great. Heh, she would have lived closer to me when she stayed in Mississippi.... gaming on bulletin board dial up. That's hardcore.

I watched the first two episodes of Merlin w/ Anthony Head and found it enjoyable.
Sort of a Smallville take on the Merlin - King Arthur tales.

The guild S2 didn't disappoint! My sister watched S1, but didn't like it. I guess this is because I am used to the gaming world and she isn't.
beagle

Anyone ever watch the 1994 series My So-Called Life?  Only lasted one season, I guess cause it was good.
Every episode just leaves me drained. It is a powerful show that just deals with everyday stuff.
I recommend.
beagle

Just started Tru Blood.  Pretty cool stuff.

I've watched that, have you seen the Halloween episode yet? If so/when you do, does it remind you of I Only Have Eyes For You? Or was that just me? I mean Buffy is a bit more grim and gritty, and has wasps, but when I saw it I couldn't help wondering if the Buffy writers had gotten some inspiration there.
beagle

Haven't gotten to the Halloween episode yet but I was watching the commentary to 6.01 Bargaining the other day and Marti said she was basically trying to write "My So Called Life" with vampires.

I love True Blood! I watched S1 when it first aired, and I was hooked, I love the mystery and suspense and how each episode always ended on a cliffhanger, or weird moment. S2 just gets better and better too, it's awesome! I just love the different take on vampire mythology, while it stays true to the roots of it, but the gore and explicitness is a bit hard to take sometimes. It's still a great show, though.

Did anyone see either Southland, Harper's Island and/or The Unusuals this past season? They were all new shows I got into, I'm just wondering if anyone here also happened to watch them.
cardboardy

i've watched the first 6 eps of true blood and I'm really digging it.
i love the sweltering loosiana swamp thang, the sordid innocence of it all.
i cant stand what happend at the end of episode 5, and the amount of blood on that kitchen floor, so at this stage i'm really hoping for that character to somehow reappear as a vampire because i cant stand the idea that i'll never see them again.  i'm still not sure of how the mythology works though so i might just be hoping in vain
as you can see im already emotionally entangled and im glad to hear season 2 keeps on giving

Yes, it really "felt" like IOHEFY.  Makes me wonder also.

MSCL is awesome and I just learned that it's now on Hulu. I had been introduced to the show by a high school English teacher who was the advisor of my high school's literary magazine. (Anyone want to guess which episode he introduced me with?) I was so hooked that I bought the set, of course back then it was slim to none on extras. Haven't gotten the new set.

Watching True Blood last night and one of the characters said he wished Buffy would come to town and kill some vamps..

I just saw the same Smile.

I like TB so far (just finished ep 3), but don't love it yet. It's a bit slow-starting. Most of the characters are likeable (and Tara is lovely!), and I don't like the vampire look. It just looks silly, especially with the 'evil trio'.
beagle

I found TB to be a bit "cheap" in the drama department but entertaining. A "romp"
ildjarn

The way vampires die (assuming Longshadow's death is typical) is quite spectacular.
beagle

Ild, I've been on a web-series kick for the past few days and discovered the Guild! Watched S1 yesterday, what a hoot!
For some reason I was under the impression that it was a TV series about (lawyers?)  haha
Can't wait to watch the rest.  Good thing the web nanny at work wont let us, i'd be watching it now.
greengirl00

Aw, I love it when that happens. (But not to me) When you have this totally clear idea about something, and then it's TOTALLY wrong. I get it more often than is really a good plan, I think. The Guild is good, though , isn't it?
ildjarn

The guild rocks. But I have a connection with the gaming world, that definitely helps. My sister doesn't know anything about online gaming, and she thought it was boring.
beagle

I don't game on-line but have friends that do, so I have a basic understanding.
I love how they have these adventures in real life that mirror, or are a metaphor for the gaming world.
And I love the characters and that they are all so socially inept.
It's funny every time one of them mispronounces a word. Like they have only read the word and never actually heard it used. You know, because they stereotypically never leave the computer. (at least I think that's on purpose)  Probably watch S3 tonight.
