If I went to school today, the final bell would have just let out seventh period.
(One of our new SAT Vocabulary words for English class is 'vapid' and we have to write contextual sentences for all of the words and I wanted my sentence to be "Vapid whore!" yelled Buffy, but my evil English teacher (seriously, she might be a giant insect or something) would totally get me suspended or something. I incorporate Buffy into everything though. All of the sentences are about 'complaisant Dawn' or 'malevolent Spike.')

I just watched the first episode of Point Pleasant, a cancelled Marti Noxon production about a girl who washes up on a New Jersey beach and turns out to be the daughter of Satan and a mortal woman. Which according to the show, gives her the chance not to be evil.
Will she kill the family that befriended her? Will she steal the sexy lifeguard from his unfaithful, seemingly shallow but beautiful girlfriend? Will she find her mother lost since birth?
Sounds a lot like a supernatural soap opera, and the first episode, at least, plays out that way. But I'm willing to at least give it a two DVD try.

MBone, that's awesome! See, learning can be fun! When I was learning German at a local community college, we would make up funny sentences. For example, when we were learning prepositions (in, under, against, over, near, etc.) we would make up sentences like, "Throw the cat against the wall." or "Put the sofa on the german teacher." She was amused and didn't mind, as long as we were learning.
Beags, Point Pleasant sounds interesting. Let us know if you like it after 2 DVDs.

That's so funny. Our Spanish teacher was trying to teach us how to make nouns into verbs. He asked for an example of course he got pollo (chicken). So he was telling us about 'enpollonar' or 'to be chickeny.' And then there was 'manzanar' or 'to be appley.' I prefer 'tenedorar' or 'to be forky.'
El tenedor es muy tenedora. The fork is very forky. (I think that's how you would conjugate it ...)
|
Sunnydalehigh
|
ROFL! MBone, that's so cool! By the way, tenedora is used as an adjective there, not a noun, but I get the idea.
Tenedorar could also mean "to fork." So then "Te tenedora" would be "Fork you" or "go fork yourself." Hahaha! I could have fun with this....

el carton (with an accent over the 'O') is cardboard so then cartonar would probably be 'to be cardboardy.' Or maybe 'to cardboard' but that doesn't make any sense. So Usted es cartona. I think that works.
Sorry about your shoes, too.

Hey Mag, Congrats on the Ipod, that's great! you can fit moocho stuff on that! Have you been puting stuff on it yet? I didn't even get a chance to play with mine till today, I spent a couple hours putting a few hundred songs on it and, I knew I had to buy QuickTime Pro to get my BtVS DVDs on it. Now, I HATE learning new things on the computer but was syched enough about buffy on my iPod to start. Of course I'm lost at the first step. I bought QuickTime Pro but have no idea now where it is. I thought it would link straight to a download but.... not. My only guess is the confirmation went to my work email and either it's shipping or I need that email to access it.. AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH! I am so frustrated, every time I do something like this something like this happens... AAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! ok, i feel a little better now.

There there Beags ... plus, you forgot the 'Grrr.' I had about a capillion songs on iMesh, the download thing I already had on my computer but iTunes, and therefore my iPod, refuses to accept all but 25 of my 1500 songs. The songs that it will upload though are all songs from Once More With Feeling and random Buffy soundtrack compositions.
Also, I got season four of Angel on DVD and have divvied (sp?) up my weekend between that and reading 'Lord of the Flies' for English. And by the way, not a fan. They just kill all the characters I like. Not Angel, 'Lord of the Flies.' But kind of Angel, too, I guess.

Thanks, but I stole it off the BTG a long time ago... I think it's fabulicious too, but the credit goes to Jess.
Hey, Magic. You "might" be able to, if you can find the song files. copy them out of where they are to some other place, like your desktop. the songs are probably in a subfolder of the player but might be hidden (you can unhide the files and just drag them to you your desktop) then import, or drag them, the songs not the folders into itunes. i know that sometimes with some programs you can't copy directly from one to the other... like you have to do that if you want to copy songs off of your ipod and on to another computer.
I'm just starting to learn this stuff
BTW, My quicktime pro reg # was here at work waiting for me. TONITE, I start importing Buffy. Not sure wether to start with S1 or the season I am currently watching, which is Glorious S5
Of course, there was a big wind strorm last night and I have to clear broken tree limbs out of my back yard before I can play with my iPod. Grrr Arrrghh

buffyPod update
last nights labors unsuccessful, Quicktime sucks for this, I think you have to be a real computer person to make it work. I couldn't even get it to recognize the video files from the DVDs, much less convert and export them... good news is i gave up and ripped another 2C songs.. up to 660 now,
this morning my friend Cheryl found a program for sale (another $30,,, crap) that looks like it will really work... it had a demo version that converts 3 minutes at a time and it worked... now i have the first 3 minutes of WTTHellMouth on my iPod,,, ha only 143.9 more episodes to go..hhahah think i'll buy it and try it, what the hey

buffyPod Update:
OK, I found an even better program to rip DVDs to iPod. Am currently evaluating the performance. Looks like Apples claim of 150 hr on a 60G machine is about right. I tried a lower resolution and last night I watched The Harvest and there was some pixilation. (the trial version allows you to rip the entire DVD, but it just has the words (Trial Version) real big across the screen.
While I was happy with the video size and quality (not counting the pixilation due to the low res download) my arm did get tired holding the iPod about 1ft - 30cm from my face. ha,,, but I'm sure after 15 or 20 Buffy episodes those muscles will gain strength!
Looks like the rip time (dvd to computer) is going to be around 10-15 minutes per episode. But once you get it off the disk the time to go from computer to iPod is like 6 seconds.

My random thought today...When it rains and the snails are out if you accidently tred on them and break their shell but don't kill them, do they still die or do they just find a new shell...Because I have this theory that when a snail gives birth to a baby snail it has gotta hurt much more if it has a shell. SO...they find there own shell when they get old enough. Which would therefore make me think that they don't die if you only break their shell :S. (did any of that make any kind of human sense?)
Some parts of me hopes that No one on this site is an expert on the anatomy of the snail...Because ya know...Sad much! (lol OJ)
And another part of me wants to know that a snail will live on in another home and make a new snail life in his(or her) new habbitat!
Soo yeah sorry about that but I feel sorry for the poor snails that get trodd on in the dark cold of the british nights!

I was talking to my best friend today and we were wondering what the difference is between a sunroof and a moonroof on a car.
Also, on a random side note, a mutual friend of ours from college lives in LA and is a casting assistant for the shows Numbers and Related. I went to IMBD and found that she has a listing with her picture there. Very cool! I'd tell you who, but it's not going to mean much to all of you since you don't know her and she's not really famous or anything. Yet.

ok well instead of telling you where i've really been (due to my paranoia issues) i'll make something up that sucks just as much as the truth.
Ok so an evil demon scientist worked this mojo where the light, instead of reflecting off of my person and making me visible, went around me and past me, rendering me invisible. How unfortunate that i was hitchhiking at the time, for i spent the next 2 days huddled under a sign on the side of the highway which said "no stopping on highway" . then i started walking, surviving on invisible cheese and crackers, until my shoes fell apart even more than they were to begin with. i came across an invisible telephone booth (in a manner that gave me an invisible nosebleed) and even though i had some trouble dialling, i rang my lover who, frantic with worry, had hired the services of a really talented private investigator (who was blind, and relied on her 4 senses to do her work... and she had a few extra senses to boot). i said "wow thats so amazing because i rhyme with blinvisible so she should have no trouble finding me". moments later a knock at the phone booth door, and i turned around, and yep, you guessed it, a blind private investigater was waiting there with a hot melty pizza for me which i ate with fervour. as i munched on this cheesy round bread, i started to see my hands, and arms, and nose. i still havent found out what sort of cheese it was, but my PI assured me that the evil demon scientist has since been badly injured to death in a tragic lawnmower accident, so things are looking up.

LOL!!! Cardy, that's the best story I've heard in a long time. My face hurts from smiling/laughing at it!
I have a new Fray desktop background. I asked my husband if he had seen it yet and he said, "Yeah, I figured it must be some chick thing...." Then he smiled.
Also, I saw my mom this weekend and she was asking me about how Buffy ends (I'm still trying to get her hooked, but apparently she just wants me to tell her what happens. She doesn't get the humor in Buffy. It must be all the pop culture references). Gabe, who hasn't yet seen seasons 6 or 7, was in the room, so I told her I couldn't tell her. We started talking about the metaphors in Buffy, i.e. high school is hell. Then I said there's still 5 seasons of Angel to watch. She said, "What does he do in L.A.?" I said, "He fights an evil law firm," and she cracked up laughing (in a good way, because of the humorous metaphor, you know, not because she thought it was silly). Maybe there's hope for her yet.

Today was our last day of finals. We have a three day weekend thanks to the fabulous Memorial Day (what are we memorializing?) and then two more days of school. I had a fight with some of my friends over the proper pronunciation of the word 'syrup' and got in a hardcore ninja fight. I got 223/260 on my English paper that I spent 3+ months on but I got an A on my Spanish final (!).
The student council elections are next Wednesday for my school and my friend Tom is running for president and he has this sign in the hallway that says "Please Educate our Nation in Schools" or something and the P, E, N, I and S were way bigger than all of the other writing and the words were surrounded by an oblong shape. Hehe. No one else got it.

Hi Rebecca,
Welcome to the site and dont worry about the computer thing, one of the best things about this forum is that it is easy to use.
A few things you might want to check out. Some good trivia and elimination games in the Buffy and Angel threads.
Also, we have a Watchers Council and a Rogue Watcher's Collective too.
The Watchers Council meets every Friday night, 10.30 GMT (not sure where you are) and we watch a voted for episode of Buffy and discuss on the forum. Also is you have AIM, we chat while watching too.
the Rogue Watchers Collective is simply, whenever you fancy watching an episode of Buffy or Angel, shout out on the thread (in the watchers council section) and if any forum member is on and they want to watch, then you can watch together and discuss etc.
If I have missed anything, then I am sure someone will fill you in.
Have fun, look forward to reading your posts.

My most embarrassing moment (this week, anyway):
My husband accidentally locked me in the downstairs bedroom and then went upstairs to play the drums. I banged on the door and yelled for about 15 minutes with no luck. I had to open the window and yell to my neighbor, who was working outside at the time, and have her come in the back door (which wasn't locked, thank God!) and let me out. When the neighbors were good-naturedly teasing us about it later, Jeff said, "You let her out?! Geez! It took me a week to get her in there!" Hardy har har.

Yeah, I tried to read some Dragonball Z books, but I just never got into it. I found the illustrations hard to follow. There was sooooooo much action going on in every fight scene that it was hard to tell who was winning or losing and what the heck was going on. Sorry, Ginyu, I'm sure you're a huge fan and I'm not saying the graphic novels are unworthy, it's just not what I'm into.

I tried to watch the first series (was on Cartoon Network somewhere around 2000 I think) but it got a bit boring after a while (Frieza got beaten, Frieza came back stronger, Goku got beaten, Goku discovered he was a super-Sayan, Frieza got beaten, Frieza came back even stronger, etc etc) (and pardon me if I misnamed characters, it is 6 years ago, and my mind's beginning to notice the age effects)

all my friends are turning into carnivores (i think thats the queer version of all my friends are getting married)
ive been doing a survey about which meat made the vegetarian turn.
results thus far
lambchops 4
sausages 4
bacon 2
emu jerky 1
??!! emu jerky????
An emu is an australian flightless bird like an ostrich but with an aussie accent, and is not pronounced ee-moo (as per cordy's idea about the size of the bug up snyders butt) but eee-myoo. but why would you break your meat fast with emu?? why?
i am so troubled by this.

Cardy, I was a vegetarian for 2 years. I started having recurring dreams about eating cheeseburgers, so I figured my body was trying to tell me something. The burger is what did it for me--and I don't mean those crappy, wimpy McDonalds burgers either. Mmmm...cardboardy! Haha.

My vegetarian stint was like 9 months. Then we went to a new friends and he was making some killer pork chops. I didn't want to make a big deal so I thought what would it hurt to eat just one? Well, it was over then. It was so good I just couldn't stay away after that.

beagle your 9 months im afraid is a little on the lean side for my rigourously scientific study (even though your porks\chop backflip was beautiful to behold), but SDH your burgers are gratefully noted.
infact i was musing the other night that if for some reason i was forced to eat meat it would probably be a burger
speaking of burgerssss
watching slingblade last night, and they actually mention a 'doublemeat burger' (talking about the tasty food at the local greasy that the fellaz eat throughout the movie)
haha!

My dad's girlfriend, who was vegetarian for 20 years, recently became a carnivore again. I'm not sure what she ate first, but I can tell you that she's been rocking the hamburgers lately. I mean, hardcore. She orders one EVERYWHERE. It's like she's trying to catch up for her lack of meat over the last few decades...

I was a vegetarian for a while but then my dad dragged me to this wedding and pretty much all there was to eat was cole slaw, fried chicken and this pig, who still had his eyes in and every time you walked by it, you could feel it looking at you. (The reception was in a barn, gasp, hence the pig and the strange man who served it with his hands). I had some chicken because you can only eat so much slaw before mayonnaise starts flowing in your veins (plus, uck) so I was a vegetarian no more. (Don't worry, I didn't eat the pig :] )

My teacher was talking ealier in this past semister about a line that he read on the Internet: "If God wanted us to be vegitarians, He wouldn't have made animals out of meat." Seemed like good enough logic to me.

I saw Eliza D. on a 70's Show rerun last night. She played a nitwit, sex kitten radio disc jockey who the regulars easily bested with one of their lame tricks. I couldn't help wishing she would go all Faith and kick Eric in the stomache.. ahha
