Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Just curious if anyone else has been watching this show.  It's got Summer Glau as one of the stars, so that should be incentive for everyone here (...or the guys anyway) to watch.
So far it's been really good (at least in my opinion), but I don't know if anyone else has seen it.  Also, you really don't need to have seen the movies to enjoy the series (I don't think so, anyway.)

Here's a link to the episode from the FOX website.  It doesn't appear to have the first episode for some reason, but 2-5 are here.

Excellent I love the movies hope it gets here if Fox have it then we are in with a chance.
Wynter

I heard about this yonks ago, haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Definitely will at some point though, because Summer is awesome Very Happy
marvin21st

Yay I have seen an ad for it.
MysteryEND

I really like it..
Summer looks amazing in this series!
TwoToGo-Grave

Last night's was probably the best so far of the season.  I'm very excited about the finale next week.  It should be good.

Also, it's great to hear from you again Mystery.
NotFadeAway

The season finale was last night, and it was great.  I won't write anything about it for those who haven't seen it yet, but what an awesome couple of episodes!!!  This show really needs to be brought back, but being that it's on FOX we can't be sure (after Firefly, Wonderfalls, and Tru Calling.)  Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet you really should.  It's not only a very good show, but it has Summer Glau!
Mel

This topic has been unlocked as requested Smile
Wynter

Ooh, who requested this back? Good timing, because I recently just finished watching the first season! I really enjoyed it actually, much more than I originally thought I might. Not for any particular reason, just because I wasn't as big on the Terminator franchise when I was younger, as everyone else. But the show is pretty damn cool. All the leads are excellent, although does anyone else think Cameron has some River-esque moments, or lines? That made me laugh a bit.
NotFadeAway

TwoToGo asked that it be unlocked last night.
It's not too long until the start of Season Two!!!!!!!!!  And I agree about the River-esque moments for Cameron.  There are definitely some at times.  Anyway, it will be awesome to see how Cameron responds to what happened at the end of Season One.  It should be awesome.
TwoToGo-Grave

Thanks so much Mel. Smile
I am so eager for it; it'll be interesting to see where they're going with the show.  It had gotten so much better as the season went on, and I fully expect that it's going to get better and better from here.
Wynter

I agree that the series got better with each new episode. And I can't wait to find out what happens next either!

Spoiler:

Especially after Cameron blew up :-O I hope she's not too badly injured, and that they get that Sargissian guy

Spoiler:

I can't imagine she'll be injured too much.  She's a terminator after all.

Wynter

Spoiler:

True but there must be some significant damage to her skin, I'd think. And if she has to spend time inside recovering, that means she can't protect John, and if she can't protect John then...dun dun duuuuuun.

That's all just speculation, of course.

Not long to go now!
NotFadeAway

ONLY THREE DAYS UNTIL THE START OF SEASON TWO!!!!!!!
If you can't tell, I'm excited.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's gonna be awesome to see.
NotFadeAway

WOW!!!!!!!!!  What a great season premiere.  I'll put everything in spoiler tagged-ed-ness just in case:

Spoiler:

Seeing Summer going bad is just awesome.  What an amazing job she did in tonight's episode.  Seeing her pleading with John not to 'kill' her was just so horrible, knowing that it's a trick to try to kill him.  Also, seeing how upset John is, how loyal he is to Summer, and seeing him going all hardcore (and, for some reason, the haircut) was just awesome.

Oh, and the freaking T-1000! at the end.  That is the creepiest, scariest villain imaginable.

Wynter

I agree, the premiere was fantastic!

Spoiler:

Cameron going badass was so awesome, especially because she was just calculating and relentless and would not give up going after the Connors! I totally felt their pain and exhaustion. I feel so sorry for John, knowing how much he cares for her, but is still loyal to his mum, and I also felt horrible when Cameron said she loved him, because I think John's feelings have gone beyond platonic already. I don't think it's too far-off that she might be telling the truth, though, since we don't exactly know the nature of their relationship in the future. Also, she overrode her command to kill him at the end, even with a damaged chip, so how exactly did she do that? It's all a bit ambiguous!

I love Derek too, though I wish there'd been more of him in this episode. I wondered why Sarah didn't just call him earlier, when she and John first ran into trouble. It might've saved a lot of hassle.

I wasn't feeling the 2nd episode as much, to be honest. It seemed a bit slow, and there was too much of a change in pace from the premiere. Also, I didn't get the end when the 4 of them stood in the garage staring at the blood-writing at the wall? Did I miss something?
TwoToGo-Grave

Spoiler:

I didn't think that she overrode the kill command; I thought that that was just showing us that she was back to being reprogrammed correctly.  I loved seeing EVIL Terminator Summer so much; it was the best episode yet of the show, no doubt.  You can really feel the intensity of the situation, and that's awesome.  Oh, and Summer Glau should be at least nominated for an Emmy for this episode; she was amazing.  And seeing the T1000 is the stone nuts.

I wasn't crazy at all about episode two either, to be honest; it seems like a typical episode two.  That is, it's not overly interesting or exciting and just passes time until episode three.

Episode three, while I need to see it again, was very strong and exciting.  I'm getting tired of seeing whiny emo John, though.  Dude needs to stop his three week long whine fest.  And after this past episode, surely he'll see what his stupidity can cause, right?  I mean, I hope so, anyway.  Also, I sooo wonder how it will work with Elison working with the T-1000.  That should be interesting to see play out.
I wish they'd mentioned the blood on the wall again, though, for sure.  Maybe next week; it's something that I'm very curious about, as it makes no sense.

NotFadeAway

Me and TwoToGo were saying that last year's finale was this show's 'Prophecy Girl', so does that make the Season Two premiere this show's 'When She Was Bad'?
Oh, and I hate to say it, but episode two is this show's 'Some Assembly Required"...

But episode three's strong, though we can't quite call it the 'School Hard', now can we?

Word about the blood on the wall, I still don't get the significance of that scene. Glad I'm not the only one, though!

And I agree about emo!John too. It's understandable that he'd rebel, because he's a teenager and he's a boy, but given the circumstances and the ENTIRE situation, which he knows about, to no end, he should know better. It's like he's suddenly just gotten sick of the mission and the state of things, but if he has, it's like "well, then try and do something about changing it, rather than just whinging all the time!" *smacks him upside the head*

Episode 3 was much better than 2, it has to be said. Totally sucks about Michelle though, that was such a shame for Charlie! And I can't believe Ellison is working with the T-1000 now, that won't bode well.

Random note about her, it's very amusing for me to see her, because Shirley Manson was actually the lead singer in a fairly well-known Scottish band called Garbage. It's hilarious that this is the first I've seen of her in years, I so didn't expect that! Her attempt at an uber-English accent makes me laugh, especially when the Scottish one comes through a bit.

Just wondering is this still going because it has been taken off over here.

Really?  That's odd.  Can you find the eps on Youtube or something?  I thought I saw the season two premiere there, at least.
NotFadeAway

You should be able to find them on fox.com.
Wynter

^^ Network sites and episodes aren't usually watchable on computers outside of the US, though.

Wait a minute, seriously? That's bull! That's the site I use to watch stuff all the time, and it works for me...who isn't anywhere near the States.

This week's episode was really interesting, albeit a bit confusing.
NotFadeAway

My thoughts:
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

I really like the episode, but it made no sense.  It may sound bad, but I really wish that Summer had killed the girl at the end.  It would have been very interesting and made for a better story going forward.  Also, how does the T-1000 have a kid?  Is that a kid a Terminator, or does she think that the T-1000 is really her mother?  She'll be seeing a shrink one day...
Wynter

So, apparently Cameron was based on a human who was actually from John's inner circle? But then...I thought John built Cameron? And that she was good. ARGH! I'm so confused about that.

The kid confuddled me too. But maybe it's all for show.
TwoToGo-Grave

I think that it makes perfect sense to base terminators on humans, namely if they're meant to infiltrate.  Also, she's reprogrammed, as it now says in the opening.  That's why when her chip was damaged, she reverted back to trying to kill John in the premiere.

This ep was so interesting, and I wonder what exactly was going on with the future.  I know that I liked it a lot, but if this still makes no sense later on, I'll be disappointed.
And I agree that it'd have been better if Cameron had killed the girl at the end.  It seems that they just couldn't go THAT far, but really, they could have.

And NFA mentioned that he thought that last week's secretary was a terminator, and that the girl could be the same terminator (meaning another!!! T-1000).  That would just be crazy.  The girl looks too much like Shirley Manson to be some random kid, right?  And her only purpose is to make Elison believe that a terminator killed her husband, right?  I can't wait to see where this story with Ellison and the T-1000 goes.

And I want to see Brian Austin Green show back up and be seen much more often.  He hasn't gotten much to do through four episodes.

OH! I totally forgot about the "re-programmed" bit, and how she'd tried to kill him before. That makes so much sense. You're better at connecting the dots than I am, well done TwoToGo!

I agree with your point on Brian Austin Green too, I was so not pleased with his lack of being in this episode.
NotFadeAway

Last night's episode was just amazing.  This has to be the best outing since the premiere.  I'll put my thoughts in spoiler:

Spoiler:

-I just love the moment where John shouts to the Terminator that he's John Connor.  That was such an awesome move.
-I really like everything from John in this episode.  He's acting like he should again, instead of having whiny bitch syndrome (as he did in the previous three weeks.)  The line about Baum just being a name was great as well, as it really shows that he's accepting his responsibility as the leader of mankind.
-Summer Glau is the nuts.  Again.
-Poor dude in the alley.  That schlub thought he was making out with a hot girl, only to get a ton of liquid metal through the back of the head.  Poor, poor schlub.  That scene was awesome, of course.  I had mentioned to TwoToGo the night before that I really was wanting the see Shirley Manson be a T-1000 again, instead of just a conniving business woman.
-Ellison is so dead.  It's sad, but true.
-The reading of the Wizard of Oz was just awesome.  That sequence is so Terminator-like.  I loved it.
-The fact that this kid is going to end of dying was so sad.  The line about everyone dying for John Connor is chilling though.
-Hooray for Dodge for sponsoring the show this week.  I don't guess anyone outside the U.S. will see all the Dodge commercials that aired in every break, but it was great, especially since the rating haven't been so good this year.  I sure hope the show can keep getting those kinds of sponsorships, since that would help keep it on the air in the future.

I can probably think of some more stuff to say, but that's all I can think of for now.

Wynter

I also loved last week's episode! Derek is a really cool character, and I really like finding out more about his...future, not history, I guess. Plus, I enjoy his and John's dynamic, so seeing the two of them work together was fun. And in general, it was just a really enjoyable episode, everyone seemed back on form.

I loved the Wizard of Oz inclusion, since I'm a huge fan, so they get major brownie points for that. The sequence with reading the novel paralleled with what was going on at the school was done quite well.

It's interesting to see how John's changing. His mum said he wasn't a soldier but he put himself in the line of fire to save Bedell, and he held his own, so you can see the potential. Also his line about Baum just being a name was cool, because "Baum" is the civilian, in comparison to "Connor", the soldier and Resistance leader, future hope of mankind.

Marty and Sarah were quite sweet together, Marty was a good kid.

Sarah needs to cut Derek some slack.

Ellison is so dead, you're right, NFA. And also, does anyone see something potentially romantic happening between him and the T-1000? I don't know why, I have a feeling...

Did you guys hear about the potential cancellation for the show? That totally blows!
NotFadeAway

Quote:

Did you guys hear about the potential cancellation for the show? That totally blows!

I've read rumors, but nothing substantial (at least not yet.)  I certainly hope this show will be around for a long time.  It's really a wonderful show and I know that I've become more excited about seeing it each week than even Heroes (which I also love.)
TwoToGo-Grave

Personally, I don't see something romantic between Ellison and the T-1000, but I do agree that he's soooo dead.  It will take all season, though, I bet, and it should be very fun to see where his story goes as the season continues.
And what an episode last week; it's got to be the best since the premiere.
Wynter

Well, there was no new episode this week, but apparently FOX have ordered two more, so there's still a bit of hope yet. Apparently they're going to advertise it like crazy during the MBL, so we'll see what happens after that, I guess.
TwoToGo-Grave

It's a great chance to draw in viewers, as baseball fans should be a good target audience (males who might like an action show and who have likely seen the movies), so hopefully that will work out.  It's not like the show had any momentum, ratings-wise, to suffer with the time off.
NotFadeAway

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TwoToGo-Grave

Yay!!!!!

Wynter

Oh, YAY! That's really good news, I'm glad! Thanks for sharing, NFA!
NotFadeAway

I haven't watched this week's episode a second time yet (I plan on seeing it at least three times before the next episode in two weeks), but I thought I'd go ahead and give some thoughts on it.

-Weaver's daughter is so messed up.  I mean, she really will need therapy forever (assuming she isn't vaporized on Judgment Day and all...)  Her scenes are so sad and creepy.  And I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've seen a show actually showing a kid wetting themselves in terror.  That was so creepy.
-What's with BAG's woman?  Is she there to kill John, or to stop him in some way?  Either way, she's hot, so I like her...
-Summer Glau is the nuts.
-I so want to see Summer's therapy session.  That would be just awesome.
-Surely Ellison will figure out that something's not right with the T-1000, right?  I mean, there's a secret level he can't go to, her daughter is terrified of her, he has to know that she, at the very least, had the shlub from the previous episode killed, she's overlay interested in Terminators (and even argues that they're not evil), and acts so robotic.  He's got to be smart enough to put it all together.  Oh, and he's so dead.
-I loved seeing the Terminator girlfight.  I love how in sync they are in their movements, how they just stand there when people are around, and I really loved how Summer turned her into a Termi-pretzel.  That was the nuts.
-I'm assuming that Batman (meaning future John, since Christian Bale is playing him in T-4) sent back the other Terminator.  Since he re-programmed Summer, it would make sense that the two of them act so much alike.  Plus, the therapist clearly is going to help Skynet in the future, so it would be logical to kill him just like BAG killed Andy Goode (although that wasn't Batman's doing.)
-I want to see more Chromartie, as well as more low budget movies starring that great thespian, George Lazlo.
-I love how this episode can be so moving, exciting, and creepy without much happening.  The characters are so wonderful, and the story is so well set up, that episodes like this can be outstanding.
-This show just pumps out great episodes like it's nothing ("Automatic for the People" notwithstanding).  I can't wait to see the rest of the FULL SEASON.
-I'm so intrigued by John's possible suicide attempt.  I mean, it couldn't have just been an accident, right?  Dude's messed up, like seriously.
-I can't be the only one happy to not see Riley again, can I?  She's annoying, and gets in the way of the show.

Dang, I love this show so much.
Wynter

I knew John was the one who killed that guy (can't remember his name), it just seemed too easy to explain it away on the fact that he saw his mum kill another guy. That would mess you up, but not as much as having to kill someone yourself, with your bare hands. Damn.

It's interesting though, he obviously doesn't know how to deal with it yet, but seeing as he grows up to be the resistance leader and mankind's only hope, he obviously learns how to adjust and deal - he has to, since they're not going to stop trying to kill him, and his mother won't always be there to protect him.

I loved the fight between Cameron and the other girlbot, the way they just stopped when the humans entered the elevator and started again as soon as they'd finished was hilarious!

I don't trust Derek's old flame - what's her name, Jessica? I hope she doesn't play him too much before he realises she has a hidden agenda.

The storyline with Weaver's daughter was really sad. It kinda didn't occur to me that the Terminator was impersonating her real mother *headslap* I thought it was really interesting that she tried to act more human though, by trying to comfort the girl. Makes me think about the other terminator from a few episodes ago, and how he was married and had a wife, and looked, for all intents and purposes, like he was "in love". I wonder just how much the robots can actually feel, in terms of human emotion.

Good stuff anyway, I'm looking forward to the new episode!
Wynter

Is it just me or was there no new episode this week?

Wynter wrote:

No.  FOX was showing the World Series.  It's over now, though, and Terminator is back this upcoming Monday.  Smile
Wynter

Ohh, okay. Thanks for clueing me in!
Wynter

Cromartie scared me by how close he got to the Connors this week. And I shake my head at Derek lying to Sarah about who Jessie is. She totally has her own agenda and I don't know if he can fully trust her. That's going to come back and bite him on the butt.

Also, an interesting speculative article I read, about who may die this season!
Wynter

I didn't watch last week's episode until just now, but WOW. Loved the way it was told, with all seperate storylines that paralleled each other and then came together to actually explain what had happened. It was insane, I cannot believe Cromartie almost succeeded in killing John! And now he's dead, which is a bit of a surprise, I have to say. I thought he'd die at the end of the season, not mid-way. I'm a bit thrown for a loop, what's going to happen now?

Loved Ellison coming to the rescue, and finally interacting with Sarah. I hope we get to see more of him working with them later, though his whole story with Weaver might make that difficult.

Cameron really interested me in this episode too, she obviously knows how to play John's feelings towards her. And she was genuinely worried about him, which surprised Derek too. I definitely think there's something there, especially with the hints we get of how close they are in the future.

And now onto this week's episode!
