I suggest any of the Bones books(very different to the series)
And for light reading with a laugh and Terry Prattchet Discworld.

The most recent book that I really enjoyed was The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It's one of those kinda sad-but-uplifting books. I've already loaned it to Ella.

Oh, Oh, this is a fabulous book, it's like a spin-off from one of her triologies but it is standalone. It has a Wonderful main character, sort of a medievil magic Bella from Twilight. I just loved her. She was a very strong female character sorta like a Whedon woman.

Stranger at the Wedding by Barbara Hambly.. It is funny too.
